In recent years, there has been an increased awareness regarding digital privacy protection, and new legislation was implemented. In 2018, the Privacy Protection Authority published a series of new regulations in accordance with the Privacy Protection Law. These new regulations impose greater obligations and requirements on database holders.
In addition, the Privacy Protection Authority established a mechanism to supervise database holders in order to increase awareness, identify difficulties, and ensure compliance with the new regulations. Non-compliance with the regulations may result in administrative and criminal sanctions, as well as civil lawsuits.
